State Decile Ranks
2017 Portrait of the Movement: State Decile Ranks
In an attempt to help schools and the public better understand the Similar Students Measure (SSM) and Average Point Difference (APD) metrics as well as more easily contextualize performance in the context of the statewide big picture, CCSA also translated these measures into decile rankings. The SSM was divided into ten “similar school ranks” and the APD into ten “state ranks.” To see a sortable spreadsheet of all schools' results, click here.
The top graph below compares the distribution of the ten Similar Schools Ranks (SSR) for charter and traditional public schools. The second graph compares the distribution of the ten State Decile ranks (which does not take student demographics into account).
Performance data shown are publicly available through the CDE CAASPP data file. Data for Portrait of the Movement is taken from the October 2016 CAASPP release. All data excludes schools that are designated as alternative school accountability model ("ASAM"), Alternative, or have fewer than 30 valid test scores.
